Feds Crack Down on Brothers Behind 45 Million Illegal Robocalls
If you are tired of receiving robocalls, you can place your phone number on the Federal Trade Commission’s Do Not Call list. Doing so makes it illegal for a company you haven’t done business with to call you without your consent and also allows you to file a complaint with the FTC when you receive a robocall. Filing a complaint takes less than two minutes and helps the FTC to identify and prosecute the culprits behind these calls.
The phone number for the FTC’s Do Not Call List is 888-382-1222. This is also the number you can call to file a complaint.
In the case of three New Jersey brothers operating an illegal robocall-scheme, such complaints have now enabled the FTC to shut down their illegal operation, ban the brothers from doing telemarketing again, and make them pay $1.6 million in fines.
