Sweden’s Success

A new study finds that by refusing to lock its people down or impose draconian restrictions, Sweden got through the Coronavirus-crisis with no more casualties than comparable countries with very harsh measures, such as Belgium.

However, due to the increased herd immunity which Swedes have built in the process, Sweden is now in a much less vulnerable position than other countries. E.g. there is little risk for a “second wave” in Sweden, as most people there have already built immunity through exposure to the virus – an enormous advantage as we are facing the colder seasons of the year, with their annual influenza waves.

Covid-19: Lockdown vs. Freedom – See For Yourself

While many politicians responded to the Wuhan-Coronavirus by taking away their citizens most basic civil liberties, including the right to work, assemble, or even movement, Sweden imposed no restrictions at all.

Michigan is the most extreme example of restricting human rights to “flatten the curve” (even as hospitals were empty) and governor Whittemer has kept the state under the most invasive lockdown for almost half a year now.

Meanwhile, Sweden has imposed no mandatory restrictions, no mask mandate or anything of that sort. Swedes went on with their lives, are not wearing masks, and did not shutter their small businesses or end social interactions.

Both places have almost exactly the same population size, standard of living, similar climate, population density etc. Use of public transportation and public gatherings are more common in Sweden, leading to closer, more frequent interactions between strangers than in Michigan.

Interestingly, Sweden is doing no worse than Michigan, when it comes to Covid-19. This field experiment illustrates how useless the restrictions (shutdowns, distancing, masks, etc.), that places like Michigan imposed, are.

Freedom apparently works.

The USA Reduced its CO2 Emmissions More Than any Other Country in 2019

Defying expectations, global CO2 emissions flatlined in 2019, despite the global economy growing.

The United States recorded the largest emissions decline on a country basis, with a fall of 140 million tons, or 2.9%. U.S. emissions are now down by almost 1 gigaton from their peak in 2000. Emissions in the European Union fell by 160 million tons, or 5%, in 2019.

Majority of Americans Want Police in Their Neighborhood, Including 81% of Black Americans

Despite very vocal calls from Democrats and the Marxist organization Black Lives Matter to defund (=abolish) the police, the relationship between police and Americans of all skin colors is apparently better than the political left and mainstream media wants it to be.

What the Dutch Recommend Against Coronavirus

As the Dutch government advises against wearing facemasks, given their ineffectiveness against Covid, a major Dutch newspaper provides some practical tips what one CAN actually do be better positioned against the Wuhan-Virus: Strenghten your immune system.

Particularly:

1. Exercise. Sitting at home makes our bodies weak. Getting plenty of movement makes you feel better and stay fit.

2. Eat healthily. Our diet is one of the main factors in determining how healthy we are and how strong or immune system is. Fresh fruit and vegetables are key.

3. Sleep. Getting plenty of rest and having a healthy sleep cycle is essential for a strong immune system, as well as functionig well in general.

4. Vitamin D. Vitamin D is bad for the virus and hence good for you. You can take supplements, but our body also produces Vitamin D naturally when exposed to sunlight. Another strong argument against sitting at home. Go out! Go for a walk! In fact, the Spanish Flu was overcome after people started sunbathing (of course, to prevent skin cancer, don’t overdo it).

5. Zinc and selenium. They help your immune system tackle viruses.

While these measures won’t cure a 90 year old Covid-patient in a nursing home, most people can reduce their risk significantly by following these simple steps.
