A new treatment shows promising results for people affected by parosmia, a condition which causes them to smell in a distorted and often unpleasant way.
The condition is often caused as a result of a viral infection, including with Sars-Cov-2. It can cause even familiar scents to smell very different and often very unpleasant. While the condition sometimes goes away over time, some people still feel the symptoms after a couple of years. Thus, the new treatment may provide hope for those affected by the most persistent cases of parosmia.
