A closer look at the data from the last several months reveals that the wearing of masks had no impact at all on the spread of the Wuhan-Coronavirus. Instead, the issue is largely psychological and political, but at a great cost to both the psyche and the overall health as masks have various detrimental health effects.
A comparison of graphs from jurisdictions with and without mask mandates shows that mask mandates do not reduce or slow the increase of Covid-cases at all.
Interestingly, Sweden, which has no mask mandate, did not lock down and issued virtually no restrictions on its people and businesses in response to the Coronavirus at all, is now doing better than practically all other jurisdictions. While the country initially had a significant number of cases in the spring, it has had significantly fewer cases per capita than other countries since then. It also appears to be experiencing no “second wave” now.
This indicates that the early exposure to the virus by large parts of the population led to the buildup of natural herd immunity, leaving the country in a much better position for the coming cold months.
